Pinnick Ties Big Sky Record With Third Straight Offensive Player Of The Week Honors

UC Davis football freshman Caden Pinnick has been named the Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week, tying a conference record.

Once again No. 6 UC Davis football redshirt freshman Caden Pinnick shined in another Aggie victory and for the third-straight week Pinnick has been named the Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week, tying a conference record.

Pinnick becomes the first Big Sky honoree to earn three-straight offensive player of the week honors since Dalton Sneed (Montana) earned the honor three times in a row back in 2019. The difference between the two is that Pinnick has done it against three conference opponents, while Sneed only played two conference opponents with his streak starting in the non-conference portion of Montana’s 2019 schedule.

It’s the fourth time this season that Pinnick has earned weekly honors, having been named the Stats Perform National Freshman Player of the Week back in week one. And he earned Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week honors after the Aggies knocked off Weber State and following the road win at Cal Poly.

Pinnick once again threw for a career-high, totaling 348 passing yards while throwing five touchdowns, the most by an Aggie since 2018. Pinnick was also lights out going 25-for-29 to finish with a completion percentage of 86.2 percent.

Nationally, Pinnick’s five touchdown passes were the most thrown by a quarterback over the weekend and it’s the second-most thrown in a game this year. While his 86.2 completion percentage rated as the best in the country over the weekend and it’s the sixth-best completion percentage in a game this year.

The Aggies can now claim five weekly Big Sky awards so far this season, with Pinnick having won twice along with Rex Connors (week one) and Jacob Psyk (week four) having both earned Defensive Player of the Week honors from the conference.
