UC Davis’ Hunter Ridley Named Fred Mitchell Award Kicker Of The Week

UC Davis football kicker Hunter Ridley was named the Fred Mitchell Award Kicker of the Week after going three-for-three over the weekend.

With three field goals made in No. 11 UC Davis football’s Saturday matchup against Idaho State, Aggie kicker Hunter Ridley was named the Fred Mitchell Award Kicker of the Week.

Ridley joins two others, Youngstown State’s Andrew Lastovka and Idaho State’s Trajan Sinatra, in receiving the honor.

The Aggie placekicker nailed all three of his kicks on Saturday (Nov. 1), hitting from 46, 26 and 23 yards out. The then-go-ahead 46-yarder tied a career-high and was his sixth kick of over 40 yards this season, and he is now 10-for-12 on the season.

Ridley was named a preseason All-American, earned preseason All-Big Sky Conference honors and ended last season as a 2024 Fred Mitchell Award Finalist.

The annual Fred Mitchell Outstanding Place-Kicker Award (also known as the Fred Mitchell Award) is provided to the nation’s top collegiate place-kicker among more than 750 FCS, Division II, III, NAIA and NJCAA football teams.

The Award is named for Fred Mitchell, the record-setting place-kicker, Wittenberg University Athletic Hall of Famer, author, philanthropist and Chicago Tribune sports columnist. The recipient of the Fred Mitchell Award will be chosen based on excellence on the football field and in the community
