Two years ago today, Khris Davis hit a big home run to lift Oakland over Boston

All athletic events will be on pause for the foreseeable future, which is a tough pill to swallow for sports fans around the world.

While this may be a rough time for Oakland Athletics fans, we can look back on some good times while we wait for baseball to make its return.

April 22, 2018: Athletics 4, Red Sox 1

Less than 24 hours removed from Sean Manaea’s no-hitter, Khris Davis and the Oakland Athletics kept the magic alive against the Boston Red Sox.

After six-plus innings of shut-out ball, A’s starter Daniel Mengden allowed an RBI double to Boston infielder Brock Holt, tying the game at 1-1 in the seventh inning.

Heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, the Red Sox opted to keep starter David Price in the game with runners on first and second with two outs for Oakland.

A’s slugger Khris Davis strolled to the plate looking for something to hit–and he got his pitch.

Price’s first pitch breaking ball was drilled down the left field line, easily clearing the wall for a three-run home run to give the A’s a 4-1 lead. It was Davis’ sixth home run of the year and a big one, as Oakland closer Blake Treinen would come out to seal the game in the ninth inning.

Davis, Marcus Semien and Stephen Piscotty all picked up two hits in the A’s 4-1 win over the future World Series champion Red Sox.
