The 2019 All-Star went 14-10 with a 3.59 ERA last season with the Texas Rangers

It feels like the Major League Baseball season just started.

In reality, it has only been 34 games since Opening Day for the Oakland Athletics. The trade deadline has arrived, with Oakland showing that they are all in to win in this COVID-19 shortened season.

According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Athletics have acquired starting pitcher Mike Minor from the Texas Rangers.

Minor, 32, is in the midst of his 10th season in the big leagues.

Last season with the Texas Rangers, Minor delivered his best season yet, finishing eight in the Cy Young Award voting after going 14-10 with a 3.59 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 200 strikeouts.

The left-hander has struggled this season, holding an 0-5 record with a 5.60 ERA.

While the beginning to his season hasn’t gone as planned, Minor delivered a strong start in his most recent start against a tough Los Angeles Dodgers lineup:

Over the span of his career, Minor holds a 70-65 record with an ERA of 3.95 to go along with 1,021 strikeouts.

Minor will join an Athletics rotation that could use a boost, with Sean Manaea and Frankie Montas struggling to begin the season. The first-place Athletics will need to keep pace if they want to hold off the second-place Houston Astros.

Oakland has not won the American League West division since 2013.
