Los Angeles Rams claim Baker Mayfield off waivers; 49ers did not put in claim

Baker Mayfield is headed to Los Angeles.
According to multiple reports and the team that claimed him, the Rams claimed and were awarded the quarterback Tuesday. Los Angeles was third in the waiver order behind the Houston Texans and the Chicago Bears. ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted following the news that the San Francisco 49ers did not put in a waiver claim for Mayfield.
The Rams were in need of a quarterback after recently placing Matthew Stafford on IR. Mayfield will make $1.35 million from the Rams before hitting free agency this upcoming offseason.
This is Mayfield’s third team in 2022, starting the year with the Cleveland Browns before being traded to the Carolina Panthers this past July. In seven games with the Panthers, Mayfield threw for 1,313 yards, six touchdowns and six interceptions.
It’s unclear if Baker Mayfield will be inserted into the Rams’ starting lineup when they face off against the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday Night Football.
