Even though the Las Vegas Raiders lost Sunday, there was a glimmer of hope for running back Josh Jacobs.

Jacobs finished the game with 69 rushing yards, pushing his league-leading season total to 1,608. Behind him is Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb with 1,448, a difference of 160 yards heading into Week 18.

This should be enough for Josh Jacobs to secure the league’s rushing title. But, he was banged up by the end of the Week 17 loss to the 49ers. When talking to the media Monday, Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels was asked about weighing the personal accomplishments of a player and their health.

“Yes, player’s health, safety and just his overall well-being, obviously will be at the top of that list,” McDaniels said. “And then, anything else we will make sure that comes that comes after.”

While it’s still early in the week for an injury report, McDaniels is hopeful Jacobs will be able to close out the season.

“Again, I don’t put anything by him. I mean there was a couple times he came out yesterday and I thought they were going to tell me see you on Monday, and the son of a gun keeps going back in the game,” McDaniels said. “So, I don’t put anything past JJ. He’s a warrior and we’ll see how it goes this week.”

The 24-year-old running back has played in every game this season, averaging 5 yards per rush and totaling 12 touchdowns.
