With a little more than two weeks before the 2023 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders are still doing their homework on the top quarterback prospects. The latest being Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud.

Reports surfaced Tuesday that Stroud would be meeting with the Silver & Black, allowing both sides to discuss before the draft later this month. Stroud is the latest QB to take a To-30 visit with the Raiders, as fellow prospect Bryce Young visited with Vegas last week. The Ohio State alum also has visits scheduled with the Indianapolis Colts and Detroit Lions later this week.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport was first with the report.

Some may be surprised to see Las Vegas in the market for a top-tier QB, especially since they have the seventh overall pick. But according to reports, it’s merely coach Josh McDaniels & Co. doing their homework on upcoming draft class.

“If the Panthers go with C.J. Stroud or potentially other, then presumably Bryce [Young], would go two. So why are the Las Vegas Raiders meeting with him? Well, one would think that potentially they would consider a trade up to two,” Rapoport explained. “I know there was some people who thought they might end up trading up to one before the Carolina Panthers made that big move with the Chicago Bears.

“Either way, one thing we know about the draft is you really have no idea. And so, it is better to just do your homework and be ready for every crazy situation rather than not. I’d say that’s probably the category that the Raiders are in right now.”

C.J. Stroud was electric for the Buckeyes, throwing for 8123 passing yards, 85 TDs and 12 INTs in two years as the starting QB. He won 21 of 25 games in college as the starting quarterback. Likely selected with the first three picks in the draft, his new home will hope that he can be the turning point for the franchise long-term.
