Sacramento Republic FC captain Rodrigo López undergoes surgery after injury

Sacramento Republic FC’s star captain Rodrigo “RoRo” López successfully underwent surgery to repair the rectus tendon in his right leg, the soccer club announced on Friday.

The operation was performed by UC Davis Health sports medicine specialist Dr. Brian Haus. The club said it would have an idea of when López will be able to return to play after an evaluation “in the coming weeks.”

López wrote in a message to supporters on Instagram that he was “gutted to be off the field for a few months” and vowed to come back stronger.

“Thank you to all who have reached out w good vibes and best wishes,” he wrote.
