Josh Jacobs and the Las Vegas Raiders could not agree to a new long-term deal ahead of Monday’s deadline.

According to NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the two sides had until 1 p.m. PST Monday for franchise-tagged players to sign new, long-term contracts this year. The two sides will not be able to discuss extensions now until 2024.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted Jacobs is now expected to reporter to Raiders’ training camp, something that’s been speculated for weeks if a new long-term deal was not agreed upon.

“The Raiders are not expected to see Jacobs until later this summer, if then. Jacobs will have decisions to make as to when he is willing to report.,” Schefter said in a tweet.

Josh Jacobs cannot be fined by the Raiders organization until he signs his franchise tender. The Raiders extended Jacobs the franchise tag.

If and when he does sign his franchise tag, he’ll make just over $10 million this season. New York Giants’ Saquon Barkley and Dallas Cowboys’ Tony Pollard were also looking for new long-term deals. Barkley has also not signed his franchise tag.

Prior to the 2022 season, the Raiders declined to pick up the fifth-year option for the 24th pick in the 2019 draft.

Then he went off. Josh Jacobs rushed for 1,653 total yards, securing the NFL’s rushing title and becoming only the second Raider to win the NFL’s rushing title. Raider legend and Hall of Fame running back Marcus Allen led the league in rushing in 1985, his MVP season, with 1,759 yards.
