Raiders offense stalls in second half, lose 26-14 to Detroit Lions

Jimmy Garoppolo returned Monday night, but the veteran quarterback didn’t provide the spark Las Vegas was looking for, as the Raiders lost to the Lions 26-14 on primetime.
Garoppolo missed Week 7’s contest with a back injury sustained the prior game. In his return to action, the first-year Raiders QB finished the game with only 126 passing yards and one interception.
The lone offensive touchdown for the Raiders came in the second quarter. After driving 75 yards down the field, running back Josh Jacobs punched it in for a three-yard touchdown. The Lions responded with a touchdown of their own before halftime, pushing their lead to 16-7.
Maxx Crosby and the defense came out of halftime strong. The Lions’ first possession ended with Jared Goff throwing a pick-six straight to Marcus Peters for a 75-yard return. On the next Lions’ drive, Crosby ripped the ball away from running back Craig Reynolds on the Las Vegas three-yard line.
But Garoppolo and the offense could not capitalize. The following four possessions ended in punts or a turnover on downs.
Davante Adams, who has been vocal recently about his role in the team’s offense, was visibly frustrated toward the end of the game. He finished the night with zero catches in the first half and just one reception for 11 yards.

The Raiders fall to 3-5 on the year while the Lions improve to 6-2, second in the NFC. Las Vegas will look to bounce back next week against the New York Giants.
