Chris Biderman of the Sacramento Bee and Candlestick Chronicles Podcast joined Stiles & Watkins on Tuesday to talk about the Kings’ recent road trip, the 49ers clinching the number one seed in the NFC and more.

Sacramento went 2-1 in their short road trip, losing first to the Portland Trail Blazers before bouncing back and defeating the Atlanta Hawks and Memphis Grizzlies. During that time though, a name often heard in trade rumors with Sacramento, OG Anunoby, was sent from Toronto to the New York Knicks in exchange for RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and a second-round pick.

If the Sacramento Kings had pulled the trade trigger, Biderman believes Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri would’ve asked for Keegan Murray and Malik Monk. So if a major upgrade in store for Sacramento? Biderman doesn’t believe so, but that doesn’t mean the team won’t make a move.

“It was a steep price and that sort of exemplifies the conundrum facing the Kings at the trade deadline, is how much are they willing to give up for an upgrade? Because if you’re another team, and say Toronto is looking at Pascal Siakam in a potential Kings trade [for] Kevin Huerter and Harrison Barnes, I don’t know if that does a whole lot for them,” Biderman said. “Maybe outside of a bunch of draft picks, I don’t know that the Kings have too many super enticing assets, maybe aside from Keegan and potentially Malik Monk, and I don’t think the Kings have much of an appetite to deal either one of those guys.”

Additional topics discussed include:

  • Chris Duarte’s addition to the starting lineup against Memphis
  • Why the Kings needed their win in Atlanta
  • If the Kings are practicing too much and too hard and if that’s leading to issues in the game.
  • Is there a non-49ers team in the NFC that stands out?
