Nick Johnson on joining the Sacramento Sports Hall of Fame

Sacramento native and former Major League first baseman Nick Johnson joined The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross on Tuesday morning to share his thoughts on being inducted into the Sacramento Sports Hall of Fame.

Johnson, 45, played ten big league seasons from 2001-2012 for the New York Yankees, Montreal Expos, Washington Nationals, Florida Marlins, and Baltimore Orioles.

Over 832 games, the slugger batted .268 with 95 home runs, 398 RBI, and an impressive on-base-plus-slugging percentage of .840.

Johnson rarely struck out during his MLB career, walking 522 times against 572 strikeouts for a K-rate of just 17 percent.

More on the Sacramento Sports Hall of Fame

Along with Johnson, former Sacramento Kings forward Matt Barnes, NBA center James Donaldson, baseball player Leon Lee, and Olympic athlete Jamie Whitmore will make up the 2024 Hall of Fame class that was voted on by sports fans in the Sacramento area.

The group will all be honored at a ceremony at The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort on Sunday, February 4th.
