Sacramento Republic F.C. will participate in U.S. Open in 2024

After a historic run two seasons ago, Sacramento Republic F.C. has been selected to enter the 2024 U.S Open Cup in Round of 32. It’s an improved starting point from 2023, where the Republic joined in the second round of the 96-team competition.
By reaching the finals in 2022, they became the first second-division to reach the National Championship Final since 2008, defeating three MLS teams in the process: San Jose Earthquakes, LA Galaxy, and Sporting Kansas City.
Ultimately, they unfortunately fell to Orlando City SC in the Finals to end their miracle run. Their route will be slightly simplified this season by starting in the Round of 32.
The Round of 32 now will now feature the top seven teams from the 2023 USL Championship regular season – including Republic FC – and the league champion, as well as eight Major League Soccer sides. Last season, Sacramento finished on top of the Western Conference table and had the second-best record across all of USL. A total of 47 teams across the USL ecosystem will participate in the tournament, including 16 USL Championship clubs that will enter one round before Republic FC.
The club will learn its opponent and venue for the Round of 32 following the Third Round of the tournament (April 16-17) and will announce ticketing information for members and fans should the club secure hosting rights for the contest.

Republic F.C. has competed in the U.S. Open Cup every year since their inaugural season in 2014, posting a 21-8 record.
Lionel Messi and Inter Miami were crowned champions in 2023, leaving notable competition in this year’s competition. Republic F.C. will find out their first opponent following the Third Round, and the match is scheduled for May 7th or 8th.
