Have we seen the last of Tom Brady in the NFL? Maybe, maybe not.

The former NFL quarterback was very candid about his retirement on the “DeepCut Podcast” this week. And while he is enjoying his time away from the grind of an NFL season, he does miss it a bit.

When asked by barber Vic Blends if there was a situation to arise midseason with an NFL franchise if he would take their call, Brady didn’t push the notion away fully. And the team brought up first: The 49ers.

“I’m not opposed to it,” Tom Brady said in the interview. “I don’t know if [the NFL] is gonna let me if I become an owner of an NFL team. I’m always gonna be in good shape, always be able to throw the ball, so to come in for a little bit like MJ coming back. I don’t know if they’ll let me, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”

Tom Brady, 46, also listed the Las Vegas Raiders and New England Patriots as possible franchises rot return to if the situation was right. The Michigan alum has been out of the NFL since retrain after the 2022 season. He has opportunities to join various franchises since then, including the 49ers poking around during the 2023 offseason.

However, Brady has stayed retired, looking into other business ventures. That includes taking the lead commentary role for Fox Sports next season, signing a massive contract after he retired last year. The all-time great has also been involved in ownership discussions, with the Raiders being a potential landing spot for Brady.

That itch to get back on the field still appears to be there for the gunslinging giant, but only in the right circumstance.

Key offseason dates for the San Francisco 49ers

  • April 15 First Day of Voluntary Workouts
  • April 25-27 – 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit
  • May 20-21, May 23, May 28-29, May 31–OTAs
  • June 4-6 Mandatory Minicamp
