SF Giants mascot Lou Seal named to Mascot Hall of Fame Class of 2024

SF Giants mascot, Lou Seal, will be inducted into the mascot hall of fame this year. This is the second MLB mascot to make the 2024 class.

It finally happened San Francisco Giants fans, our beloved Lou Seal is heading to the history books!

News broke Thursday afternoon that the SF Giants’ mascot will be heading to the Mascot Hall of Fame in the class of 2024. Lou Seal will be the second MLB mascot to be inducted this year (Orbit of the Houston Astros) and the fourth overall mascot in the 2024 class.

The Mascot Hall of Fame’s website issued a statement about the Giants’ mascot, with Lou Seal himself sharing his excitement via X.

“Lou Seal, the cheerful and endearing mascot of the San Francisco Giants (MLB), has been a staple at Oracle Park since 1997,” the Mascot Hall of Fame wrote on its website. “With his signature sunglasses and warm personality, Lou Seal has delighted fans of all ages for over 2000 consecutive games. Whether he’s entertaining the crowd with his dance moves or participating in community events, Lou Seal embodies the heart and soul of Giants baseball.”

Lou Seal of the SF Giants has served as the team’s primary mascot since the 1997 season, initially introduced in 1996. His full name is Luigi Francisco Seal, paying homage to The Bay Area’s oceanic wildlife. He is also in reference to the San Francisco Seals, the ball club of the Pacific Coast league from 1903 to 1957.
