The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly adopting a new rule: the “LaVar Ball Rule.”
CBS Sports reports that this new policy will prohibit media members from the section of the Staples Center that holds friends and family members of players.
Members of the media will also be prohibited from congregating under the basket near the visiting locker room. This is typically where guests of the athletes wait for them.
Rumors say that this rule was brought on by some honest LaVar Ball interviews, but a Lakers spokesperson said that the rule was already in place:
“It’s not a new policy; it’s an existing policy. There has been more media presence in that area than before. That section is strictly for family and guests of players. It’s a privacy concern.”
