The MLB teams that make the playoffs receive bonus checks typically one month after the World Series ends. Each team’s bonus checks are based on how far they advanced. The bonus money is pooled from gate receipts from the playoff games.
According to TMZ, the Houston Astros broke the bank this year, breaking the record for biggest bonus payout.
Each player will be receiving $438,901.57 each, breaking the previous record by previous the 2014 San Francisco Giants, which paid players $392k each.
Here are the rest of the postseason payouts:
New York Yankees — $138k
Chicago Cubs — $133k
Arizona Diamondbacks — $40k
Boston Red Sox –$36k
Cleveland Indians — $36k
Washington Nationals — $36k
Colorado Rockies — $18k
Minnesota Twins — $18k
Must be nice to be an MLB player.
