Under blue California skies and a perfect-tempered day, No. 11 UC Davis football officially broke ground on its 2025 Fall Camp as the Aggies completed the first of 25 upcoming practices over the next 30 days.
“It is an exciting day,” said head coach Tim Plough. “There is a lot of work that goes into getting camp set up and ready to go and we couldn’t do it without the help from outside the immediate staff we have gotten. It is great to be out there, especially because we have a full team with the new guys and veteran guys playing together.
“It’s exciting to visual what we could become as the team begins to mesh over the first days of camp. As we take things day by day, we are building our team for a long season but for now there is just the excitement since it’s the first day.

UC Davis football took things light on the first day, which is all part of the plan. “Jeff Bourque (Assistant Athletic Director, Sports Performance) came up with a new process for us to use this fall camp. The goal is to ease the guys into the fall camp while attempting to avoid soft tissue injuries that can sometimes hamper a fall camp.”
The Aggies will spend the first six days going from an easier OTA style practice to a higher intensity practice before cycling through two more times. They will then shift into a more traditional four-day straight, one day off format before settling into game week preparation before the season opener on Aug. 23.
Today’s practice, which was spent entirely on Bob Biggs Field, was just about knocking off the rust, installing the 2025 offensive and defensive style and laying the groundwork for what will become the game plan for the season opener in Montgomery, Alabama against No. 12 Mercer.
Fall camp continues over the next 29 days with the Aggies hosting 24 more practices before kicking off 2025. Fans and media are welcome to attend fall camp practices.
