It’s good to be home.

The Oakland Athletics shook off an 0-2 start to the season in a big way as they defeated the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday by a final of 2-1. With the win, Oakland secured a 3-1 series victory, improving to 3-3 on the season.

Khris Davis continued his hot streak as he hit his fourth home run of the season, tied for the most in all of baseball. Matt Chapman and Marcus Semien continued to hit the ball well with two hits apiece. Semien is hitting .409 over the first six games of the year, while Chapman is hitting .364 with four RBI’s.

The A’s pitching staff was phenomenal on Sunday, holding the Angles to three hits and one run. Frankie Montas turned in a solid outing as he gave up one run over six innings while striking out six Angels. The Oakland bullpen closed it out, giving up no hits over the last three innings, capped off by the save by Blake Treinen.

Game 3: Saturday, March 30

Result: W, 4-2

Mark Canha hit his first home run of 2019, a two-run shot while Stephen Piscotty went 2-for-4 with two RBI’s as the Athletics rebounded from Friday’s loss with a 4-2 win. Brett Anderson pitched six scoreless innings for the A’s, the third game in a row that an Oakland starter has pitched six shutout innings. Blake Treinen picked up the five-out save while striking out two.

Marco Estrada pitched six shutout innings while striking out three batters, but the Oakland bullpen couldn’t hold a 2-0 lead as Mike Trout and the Angels rallied to defeat the Athletics by a final of 6-2. Trout went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI’s as he put the Angles in the win column for the first time in 2019. Khris Davis hit his third home run of the season, putting him in a tie for the most in baseball.

Game 1: Thursday, March 28

Result: W, 4-0

Back from Japan and in an 0-2 hole to start the season, the A’s responded with a shutout Opening Day win. Mike Fiers hurled six shutout innings, as Lou Trivino, Joakim Soria and Blake Treinen followed to seal the victory. Khris Davis and Marcus Semien homered, while Robbie Grossman went 2-for-4 in his Oakland debut.
