Anthony Slater, Warriors’ beat writer for The Athletic, joined Whitey & Watkins Thursday to talk about his interview with Kings’ general manager Monte McNair, what stood out from the pieces and other news surrounding Sacramento heading into the 2023-24 season. Plus, why is the front office so high on European prospect Sasha Vezenkov?
All that & more on Whitey & Watkins.
“I don’t want to say [Vezenkov] stumbled into a system that is perfect for him, but you know, rebuilt around Mike Brown and with the [Domantas Sabonis] trade… [Sacramento] completely remade their offense into an offense that they believe, it fits him perfectly. He had like 275 points on 26 dribbles, it’s a little Klay Thompson-like. He’s a back-door cutter, catch and shoot guy, on the move, and he’s big, they’re [complete] at the wing. I don’t think he’s gonna solve their wing defense problems, but I do think he’s gonna fit really nicely into their offense.”
