The San Francisco Giants did not do themselves any favors in the NL Wild Card race by dropping three of four to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Now five games back of the final Wild Card spot, the Giants are eliminated from playoff contention with two more losses. So much will need to go right if they want to extend their season as six teams are within five and a half games of the final two Wild Card spots.
On Monday, San Francisco welcomes the San Diego Padres into town for a three-game series. The Padres are 9-1 in their last 10 games, but, with the same record as the Giants, they also are eliminated from playoff contention with two more losses. In the two teams’ 11 games this season, the Padres have a 6-4 record.

NL Wild Card standings as of Monday, Sept. 25.
The Reds, Marlins and Cubs are all off Monday. Arizona has a double-header lined up with the New York Yankees. If the Diamondbacks drop both games to New York, they would have a half-game lead over the Marlins for the final Wild Card spot.
Upcoming San Francisco Giants Schedule
- Monday, Sept. 25th – Wednesday, Sept. 27th – vs. San Diego Padres
- Friday, Sept. 29th – Sunday, Oct. 1st – vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
