San Francisco took three-out-of four contests against the A’s this season

The San Francisco Giants reclaimed the Bay Bridge Series trophy on Sunday as they defeated the A’s 5-4 for their third win in four games against Oakland in 2019.

Brett Anderson delivered six strong innings of three-run ball, leaving the game with Oakland out in front 4-3. That lead was short-lived however, as a two-run single by Evan Longoria would put the Giants ahead for good.

Athletics outfielder Mark Canha enjoyed the weekend against San Francisco pitching, hitting three home runs over the two-game set. Canha went two-for-four with two solo home runs on Sunday, his 21st and 22nd of the season.

Oakland will be back in action on Monday night when they travel to Missouri to face the Kansas City Royals.

Game 1: Saturday, August 24 – Giants 10, A’s 5

After entering the eighth inning with a 4-2 lead, the San Francisco Giants exploded for eight runs to propel themselves to a 10-5 win over the Athletics on Saturday night.

Chris Bassitt pitched 5.2 strong innings, giving up two runs and striking out five batters before handing the lead over to the bullpen. Yusemiro Petit and Lou Trivino struggled, allowing three runs each as the Giants would pour it on in the eighth inning.

Mark Canha drilled his 20th home run of the season in the loss, while Matt Chapman and Marcus Semien each picked up two hits.
