Athletics Stay Hot, Sweep Indians

Oakland has won six straight games as they pull themselves back to the .500 mark
No Khrush Davis, no problem.
The Oakland Athletics lost their slugger Khris Davis early in the series, but it wouldn’t matter as they would go on to complete their sweep of the Cleveland Indians after a 7-2 win on Wednesday afternoon.
Oakland handed the ball to Frankie Montas on Wednesday, and he delivered in a big way. After six innings of shut-out ball with nine strikeouts, Montas lowered his ERA to 2.40 on the season. Montas has pitched like an ace, and has continued to produce at an ace-like level.

After falling to 19-25 on May 14, the Athletics have responded with six straight wins to even their record at 25-25. Oakland will enjoy a day off on Thursday before heading home to face the struggling Seattle Mariners. A decision is expected by Friday of whether or not Khris Davis will be placed on the injured list.
Davis, who was pulled after one at-bat on Tuesday, was originally going to be placed on the injured list before the Oakland medical staff changed their plans. The 31 year-old will now undergo an MRI on his hip before any roster changes are made. Davis has only homered twice since April 12th as he is has been hampered by a hip/oblique ailment. The six-year veteran hit a league-leading 48 home runs in 2018.
Game 2: Tuesday, May 21 – A’s 5, Indians 3
Jurickson Profar and Mark Canha homered for the A’s as they defeated Trevor Bauer and the Indians 5-3. Canha supplied a go-ahead pinch-hit home run to put the Athletics in the lead for good in the third inning after replacing the injured Khris Davis.
The Oakland bullpen closed it out with 5.1 scoreless innings to secure the win.
Game 1: Monday, May 20 – A’s 6, Indians 4
Matt Chapman delivered the game-sealing blow on Monday when he ripped a two-run home run over the left field fence to give Oakland a 6-3 lead. Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor would homer in the ninth inning to cut the lead to two, but it wouldn’t be enough as the A’s would hold on for a 6-4 victory.
Brett Anderson pitched 5.1 innings of one-run ball as he claimed the win to go to 5-3 on the year. Matt Chapman, Jurickson Profar, and Matt Olson each picked up two hits as they A’s extended their winning streak to four.
