Bill Simmons tends to have a lot of interesting ideas, usually around basketball.
Remember last year when he proposed a De’Aaron Fox for Russell Westbrook trade? Or earlier this summer, he speculated that the Warriors wouldn’t say no to a swap of Klay Thompson for Kevin Huerter.
Well now, he’s offering his thoughts on baseball.
On the latest edition of The Bill Simmons Podcast, Simmons and his guests Kevin Wildes and David Jacoby turn their attention to Shohei Ohtani. Following this season, the two-way star becomes a free agent and many are speculating where he’ll sign. Does he stay in Los Angeles with either the Angels or Dodgers or does he decide to move up the coast, with San Francisco and Seattle also floated as possible landing spots?
“He wants to be in the West Coast. I vote for the Giants. I think the Giants are the most fun for him,” Simmons said. “San Francisco kind of needs a boost, I don’t know if you’ve seen what’s going on there the last couple years. Put him in the same city with Steph Curry. Put him in Pac Bell [Oracle Park]. We get to watch his balls just sailing into the water. It’s the most fun for me.”
Simmons went on to say the Dodgers don’t need to sign Shohei Ohtani.
“The Dodgers are already awesome anyway, and they’re already interesting anyway, like we need him to make a team that isn’t that interesting but still has some sort of value, that will be in the postseason, that’s in a big city and it just seems like it should be San Francisco.”
