Forty days.
Forty days is how long it took for Tom Brady to change his mind about retirement. After announcing his NFL departure on February 1st, Brady announced earlier today that he will return for his twenty-third season.
Brady will start for the Buccaneers for the third straight year.
Brady made his decision right before the beginning of NFL free agency with the legal tampering period starting on Monday.
Brady will be 45 years old when he takes his next regular season snap.
In 2021, Brady finished with 5,316 passing yards, 43 passing TDs with only 12 interceptions. The Bucs finished the season with a 13-4 record and lost to the eventual Super Bowl Champion, LA Rams, in the divisional round of the playoffs.
Buccaneers Head Coach Bruce Arians told NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport that there was “Total excitement” that Brady has decided to return.
