Deommodore Lenoir and Brock Purdy received some good news Monday morning.
Both 49ers players were among the top 25 in the NFL’s performance-based pay distribution. Implemented in 2002, “the Performance-Based Pay program is a collectively bargained benefit that compensates all players based upon their playing time and salary levels.”
According to the NFL, the fund is used to compensate players “based upon a comparison of playing time to salary.” An NFL player becomes eligible to receive this bonus when they officially play one down. Players with lower salaries but high playing times benefit the most from this program.
Quarterback Brock Purdy earned a $739,795 bonus and cornerback Deommodore Lenoir earned $790,744 in bonus pay. In 2023, Purdy earned $870,000 in salary, which means his bonus was nearly as much as he makes in a year.
Some nice bonuses for two of the #49ers most under-paid players amongst the starters.
Brock will get his money after 2024, but Lenoir should also be in line for a substantial contract if his stellar play continues. https://t.co/XCYUKCV2TA

New York Jets guard John Simpson earned the most of all players, earning nearly $1 million. In total, $393.8 million in performance-based pay will be distributed for the 2023 season.
