Two prominent members of the San Francisco Giants have been placed on the team’s 10-day injured list.
Brandon Crawford and Mike Yastrzemski will be out of action for the next 10 days with a right calf strain and left hamstring strain, respectively.
Both players suffered their injuries during the team’s weekend series against the San Diego Padres in Mexico City. The Giants went 0-2 in the series.
According to the team, the 36-year-old Crawford left last Saturday’s 16-11 loss with “right calf tightness.” A day later, Yastrzemski exited the Giants’ 6-4 loss early after attempting to field a ball.
“The way Yaz came off the field, obviously, you worry that you might be without him for a month, six weeks or more,” Gabe Kapler said in an update. Especially when it comes to hamstrings, they can be so tricky. So to hear that this might be a really short stint on the IL is really good news.”

To replace their starting shortstop and center fielder, the Giants have called up outfielders Brett Wisely and Cal Stevenson from their Triple-A club, the Sacramento River Cats. Stevenson was recently acquired in a trade with the Oakland A’s. Wisely got the start Monday, filling in for Yastrzemski against the Houston Astros.
