It’s déjà vu for Jarrett Stidham.
Around this time last year, Stidham was thrown into the starting role for the Las Vegas Raiders, essentially ending the Silver & Black career of Derek Carr. The move was made to protect Carr from getting injured, as the team would move on from their longtime quarterback soon after the move happened.
In the offseason, Stidham decided to leave the desert and backup Russell Wilson in Denver. And now, he’s replacing Wilson for the Broncos’ final two games. This will be his first start since last year with the Raiders.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Sean Payton informed the team Wednesday that Jarrett Stidham will start Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers. Wilson will serve as Stidham’s backup.
“Russell Wilson already has $39 million guaranteed for 2024, but he has an additional $37M that would become guaranteed if he can’t pass a physical by early March. Denver’s move to sit him assures that money won’t trigger,” Schefter said on X.
