Several new members of the Las Vegas Raiders have earned the trust of their teammates enough to be named captains.
On Wednesday, coach Josh McDaniels announced the team’s nine captains. For the 2023 season, there are four captains on offense — Jimmy Garoppolo, Josh Jacobs, Kolton Miller and Davante Adams — three captains on defense — Maxx Crosby, Marcus Epps and Robert Spillane — and the team’s two kickers — AJ Cole and Daniel Carlson.
Epps, Spillane and Garoppolo were all signed by the Raiders this past offseason.
Crosby, Adams, and Cole were captains last year with the team. Jacobs was previously a captain during the 2021-22 season. This is the first year Carlson has been named a captain with the Las Vegas Raiders.
“So, it’s a really good group. I mean, the team obviously selects those guys, but it’s a high honor when your teammates select you to represent them in a number of ways,” McDaniels said. “All of those guys are very deserving of the honor, and I’m excited for them to lead our team on Sunday and beyond.”
