Josh McDaniels says he’d like to see Josh Jacobs with the Raiders ‘for a while’

After filling the quarterback role, the biggest priority for the Las Vegas Raiders should be to re-sign running back Josh Jacobs.
The 2022 winner of the NFL’s rushing title is set to become a free agent after the organization declined to pick up his fifth-year option before last season. The Raiders could also use the franchise tag on Jacobs.
Over the course of the 2022 season, the 25-year-old running back rushed for 1,653 total yards, securing the NFL’s rushing title. Jacobs is only the second Raider to win the NFL’s rushing title. Raider legend and Hall of Fame running back Marcus Allen led the league in rushing in 1985, his MVP season, with 1,759 yards.
While speaking to the media at the NFL Combine, coach Josh McDaniels expressed his desire to have JJ return to the Black and Silver.
“You know, what we said at the end of the year is the same as it is now,” McDaniels said. “You know, would love for JJ to continue being a Raider.”

In case you forgot, at his end-of-year press conference, McDaniels said Josh Jacobs “embodies all the things that we want a Raider to be.”
At the combine, McDaniels also confirmed general manager Dave Ziegler is in talks with Josh Jacobs and his representatives.
“That’s the hope and the goal, is that he’s here for a while,” McDaniels said. “So we’ll see how that all plays out. But, again, Dave and Josh’s representatives have been in contact and that’s the goal. That’s what we’re working towards.”
