Kings head coach Mike Brown named NBCA Coach of the Year

After leading the Sacramento Kings to its first playoff appearance in 17 years, head coach Mike Brown has been named the National Basketball Coaches Association’s Coach of the Year.
On Thursday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski shared that those who voted — fellow head coaches — have selected Brown as this season’s Coach of the Year after he led the Kings to a top-three finish in the Western Conference standings, a record of 48-34 and the team’s first Pacific Division title since 2003 and first playoff appearance since 2006.
The NBA Coach of the Year award is different and will be announced soon.
“Congratulations to Mike Brown on one of the greatest coaching jobs we’ve ever seen in this league,” Indiana Pacers Head Coach and NBCA President Rick Carlisle said in a press release. “He completely changed the attitude and vibe of the Kings franchise and fan base, launching them into an amazing new era of success.”
Other coaches who received nominations include: Mike Budenholzer, Milwaukee Bucks; Mark Daigneault, Oklahoma City Thunder; Joe Mazzulla, Boston Celtics; and Tom Thibodeau, New York Knicks.
