Sacramento has inched their way back into the playoff picture, now four games back with 25 games remaining
Back on January 22nd, things looked pretty bleak for the Sacramento Kings.
After dropping their sixth-straight game in a blowout loss to the Detroit Pistons, change was needed for a Kings team that had suffered multiple losing streaks of five games or more. Once the trade deadline came and went, Sacramento found themselves with a new-look roster.
Since January 22nd, things have went very well for the Kings.
Sacramento has won nine of their last 13 games, their most recent being a 112-94 win over the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night at Chase Center in San Francisco.
After taking a double-digit lead into the half, Golden State battled back to bring themselves to within four points. The Kings would respond with a run of their own to take an eight point lead into the final period.
Thanks to big shots down the stretch from Buddy Hield and De’Aaron Fox, the Kings would hold on for their third-straight victory, and sixth win in their last eight games.
Fox, who briefly left the game due to a sore shoulder and sore groin, finished with 21 points and five assists, while Harrison Barnes finished with 21 points of his own on nine-of-12 shooting for Sacramento. Harry Giles III just missed claiming his second-consecutive double-double, scoring 13 points to go along with nine rebounds and four assists.
Buddy Hield struggled for most of the game but came alive in the fourth-quarter, finishing with 19 points and six rebounds off of the bench. Bogdan Bogdanovic chipped in with 17 points, while Kent Bazemore added nine points and 11 rebounds in a big win for the Kings.
With the win, Sacramento picked a game up on the Portland Trail Blazers and New Orleans Pelicans in the race for the eighth seed in the Western Conference standings. With 25 games remaining, the Kings are four games out of the final playoff spot, with big games looming this weekend against the sixth-seed Oklahoma City Thunder and current eighth-seed Memphis Grizzlies.
Coming Up
Sacramento will look to push their winning streak to four when they head to Oklahoma on Thursday to face Chris Paul and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
