Brock Purdy and the 49ers got back in the win column Sunday, but the second-year quarterback also did something that only one other quarterback in the history of the league has accomplished.
By the end of Sunday’s 34-3 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Purdy’s stat line read 296 passing yards, three touchdowns, and a quarterback rating of 148.9.
Purdy joins Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner as the only two quarterbacks to record three games with at least three or more passing touchdowns and a passer rating of 140 or higher in their first two seasons. The last time Purdy recorded a similar stat line was in Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys when he threw for four touchdowns and ended with a 144.4 rating.
Warner shouted out the young Niners quarterback on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
“Now Brock Purdy is taking my records… nothing is sacred anymore, haha! Well done young man, just one more example this kid can flat play football, hard to fall into things like this!!!” Warner wrote on social media.

Purdy was at least picked in the NFL Draft, even if he was the last selection in the 2023 draft. Warner, a two-time NFL MVP and Super Bowl winner, went undrafted in 1994, eventually signing with the Packers. When Green Bay released him before the start of the season, Warner bounced around the AFL and NFL Europe before becoming the Rams starter in 1999 and cementing his legacy.
So far this season, Brock Purdy has thrown for 2,329 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions.
