Dominick Puni is a jack of all trades, proclaimed as one of the most versatile offensive lineman in the 2024 draft class. That’ll likely be put to the test in the NFL, something he has no problem doing.

The San Francisco 49ers third-round pick joined Kay Adams on Up & Adams Wednesday, discussing what theist few weeks have been like since being drafted. Puni was eventually asked about his role for the Red & Gold and where he fits on the offensive line. The All-American left tackle will likely slide inside to guard at the NFL level, something he’s more than capable doing for the 49ers.

“When I played guard in [2022], I felt really comfortable. It was the first year I played it and I did pretty well. The transition wasn’t too crazy for me, and the 49ers, they got a hell of a O-Line,” Puni stated Wednesday. “Obviously we got Trent Williams at left tackle…Moving me to guard, I have no problem with, even playing center I have no problem with. Wherever I can help the team is where I’ll play.”

The Missouri native played guard at Kansas during the 2022 season, before back outside last year. Despite the position change, Puni has been rock solid, not allowing a sack in 342 pass-blocking snaps. He also had a 90.4 pass blocking grade in college, showing his versatility in spades.

Of course, they’ll be a learning curve for 24-year-old, going from Kansas to California is a big step. But thanks to all the love he’s received from the 49ers’ Faithful, Puni feels at home already.

“I’ve never been close to [California], grew up in St. Louis my whole life. So, I don’t know how deep the 49ers’ Faithful was but I mean, it’s crazy. Just kind of social-media-wise, how much love I’ve been getting. It’s really cool to see,” he stated.

Dominick Puni will get his first taste of 49ers’ football this weekend, with rookie minicamp taking place Friday and Saturday.

  • May 10-11 – Rookie Minicamp
