During a season of San Francisco Giants baseball that has received a boost from its farm system, the franchise’s top prospect continues to make noise in AAA Sacramento.
Giants top prospect Kyle Harrison set a AAA career-high with nine strikeouts on Tuesday night as the River Cats faced the Oklahoma City Dodgers at Sutter Health Park.
Following his toughest showing of the season last Wednesday in Reno where he allowed five runs over 3.1 innings, Harrison bounced back in a big way during Sacramento’s return to home.
The left-hander set the tone early by sitting down four-straight Oklahoma City batters during the first and second innings while the River Cats jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to former Dodgers first baseman Matt Beaty’s two-run double.
Harrison coasted through four no-hit innings while walking one batter and striking out nine during a brief 61-pitch outing.

Although Harrison struck out a season-high nine batters and only allowed two baserunners (one walk and one hit batsmen), the River Cats gave the 21-year-old another quick hook as they continue to be cautious in bringing their prized prospect along.
Harrison, San Francisco’s top prospect and the 15th-ranked prospect in all of Major League Baseball, appears to be well on his way to the bigs after posting a 4-3 record and 2.71 ERA while striking out 186 batters over 113 innings pitched at the AA and High-A levels in 2022.
The southpaw has struck out 56 batters over just 30.2 innings at the AAA level this season, good enough to lead the Pacific Coast League.
San Francisco has been tapping into its talented farm system this season, already having called up Casey Schmitt, Patrick Bailey, Bryce Johnson, Brett Wisely, and Tristan Beck from Sacramento in 2023.
Will Harrison have his name called on next?
