Sacramento has strong showing, but falls short in Los Angeles

The Sacramento Kings took a 10 point lead into the second quarter on Friday night, but went on to lose to the Los Angeles Lakers by a final of 99-97.

Tied 97-97 with 5.5 seconds remaining, James hit two free-throws to cement the win for Los Angeles, giving the Kings their seventh loss of the season (4-7). A final shot attempt by Harrison Barnes was blocked at the buzzer by Anthony Davis.

LeBron James showed Sacramento that even though he is in his 17th season of NBA basketball, he has a lot more in the tank. James scored 29 points to go along with four rebounds and 11 assists as the Lakers improved to 10-2 on the season.

The Kings had a strong first quarter on Friday night, taking a 30-20 lead into the second period, thanks to nine points from Buddy Hield. A 47-foot prayer from half-court as time expired would put the Kings up by double digits after 12 minutes of action.

Los Angeles would answer, outscoring Sacramento 79-67 to finish the contest.

Hield would go on to lead the Kings in scoring with 21 points, while Bogdan Bogdanovic scored 18 points to go along with three rebounds and five assists. Yogi Ferrel provided a significant boost on the bench with 14 points and three assists, while Richaun Holmes pitched in with 17 points and 8 rebounds in the losing effort.

While the Kings hit all nine of their free-throw attempts, their inability to get to the charity stripe cost them on Friday night as the Lakers took advantage of their 22 free-throw chances, hitting 20 in the process.

Coming Up

Sacramento will be back in action on Sunday at home against the Boston Celtics, who won their 10th straight game on Friday when they defeated the Golden State Warriors.
