Chris Biderman of the Sacramento Bee and Candlestick Chronicles Podcast joined Stiles & Watkins on Tuesday to talk about his recent piece on Malik Monk.
The Kings’ Sixth Man told Biderman and the Bee he’s not worried about his upcoming free agency next summer. During his year and a half with the Kings, Monk has averaged 13.5 points, 4.1 assists and 2.7 rebounds.
If the Kings do make it a priority to re-sign Monk this upcoming offseason, will the 25-year-old guard want to be added to the starting lineup in the future? While Biderman didn’t specifically ask that question, the Bee writer believes Monk is happy coming off the bench.
“I think what matters more to him, and I know [coach] Mike Brown has said this, it’s not who starts the game, it’s who finishes. And Malik was very clearly a guy who had to be on the floor in crunch time during the playoff series last year against the Warriors,” Biderman said. “That is probably the more important thing and you’ve seen guys get paid pretty considerable amounts coming off the bench.”
Additional topics discussed include:
