Malik Monk on his upcoming free agency & chances of staying with Kings

Have we seen the last of Malik Monk in a Sacramento Kings uniform?
Injuries cut his season short, missing the final nine games of the regular season and two play-in matchups against the Golden State Warriors and New Orleans Pelicans.
After signing a two-year $19 million deal in the summer of 2022, Monk explained where his head is as he enters free agency. He said he doesn’t know how things will play out because “I haven’t had two good seasons in a row like this.”
The 6th Man of the Year finalist averaged 15.4 points, 5.1 assists, and 2.9 rebounds on 44.3 from the field, 35.0 percent from three on 3.4 attempts per game, and 82.9 percent from the free-throw line.
“It feels good knowing that going into the offseason, you will have options because I didn’t have options before…it’s a little weight off my shoulders for sure,” Monk said.
Sacramento can only offer him about $78 million over four years. Monk knows, though, that he can get more money if he leaves Sacramento.
“Emotions are everywhere. I came here [to be with] one of my best friends, turned the organization around, turned the city around. The city loves me and I’ve said it before, I love the city,” Monk said, adding that the support he’s gotten from his teammates means everything to him.
