Michael Pina, senior staff NBA writer for The Ringer, joined The Drive Guys Wednesday afternoon to discuss his recent piece titled, ‘Eight NBA Players Who Are Leveling Up This Season,’ which features one Sacramento Kings player as the first name listed: De’Aaron Fox.
The trio starts their conversation with an open-ended question for Pina. Where has De’Aaron Fox taken the most significant leap throughout the 2023-24 season?
He quickly responded with his three-point shooting. Fox is currently averaging 8.7 three-point attempts per game and converting 39.0 percent of said looks.
We’ll see how much all this sustains over the next few months, but so long as Fox’s volume and the accuracy behind the arc are what they’ve been, Sacramento has a real superstar who can be the best player on a championship contender. He’s now scoring 30 points per game with the fourth-highest usage rate in the entire league. This should be a much bigger story than it is.

Pina shared that if De’Aaron Fox keeps this up, he believes Sacramento’s guard could work his way into NBA MVP conversations in years to come. So, why does Fox seem to not get much national attention yet?
They dove into that and much more throughout their conversation on Wednesday.
