Having attended Palo Alto High School, Athletics prospect Henry Bolte grew up a fan of the Oakland team, which has since been temporarily based in Sacramento’s Sutter Health Park.
Selected by the A’s in the second round of the 2022 MLB Draft, the 6’3″ ballplayer got an earlier opportunity than most people expected, as his red-hot hitting forced the issue and earned him his first MLB opportunity.
Before being called up, he was hitting .348/.418/.658 with 12 home runs, 28 RBIs, 17 stolen bases, and a 1.076 OPS in 37 games at the Triple-A level. Then, in his May 13th MLB debut, he impressed by going 2-for-2 with a walk and highlight reel diving catch in center field.
More from Athletics Prospect Henry Bolte
On Friday’s edition of The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross, Henry Bolte joined to discuss his quick rise and impressive start.
“At the end, I was like, man, that was unbelievable,” Bolte reflected on his debut. “But while you’re playing, you know, it’s just another game. I’ve been trying to just treat it the same way, just going out to play baseball.”
“You know, being able to go out and do little things like that, like the catch or get the RBI on the sack fly, and help the team win, is it’s kind of all I was looking to do, and night in, night out, looking to do while I’m here, you know, that’s the most important thing with the big league club, is winning games, so that was a ton of fun.”
After collecting 12 straight hits last week at Triple-A, Henry Bolte has reached in each of his first 3 @Athletics plate appearances.

While Bolte has carried his red-hot bat in the minors to the MLB level early on, there’s still plenty that the A’s No. 5-ranked prospect will have to prove in terms of consistency. But there’s no denying how encouraging his first two performances have been, and he’ll have a chance to compete in what was once a Bay Area rivalry as the San Francisco Giants come into Sacramento for a three-game series.
