Top Guards Impressing At 2026 NBA Draft Combine

As the 2026 NBA Draft Combine is ongoing, hype continues to grow for some of the top prospects. The Sacramento Kings own the seventh overall pick, right in the range where a handful of intriguing point guards could be available.

Head coach Doug Christie and general manager Scott Perry were transparent about their needs for an initiator and tone-setter on both ends, just as they were last season. Players such as Keaton Wagler, Darius Acuff Jr., Mikel Brown Jr., and Kingston Flemings all fit the bill to various degrees.

To gain more perspective on combined performances and conversations taking place in Chicago, Tyler Rucker, NBA Draft Analyst for No Ceilings, joined Matt George and Kayla Anderson on The Matt & Kayla Show.

Acuff Jr. was one of the biggest risers after an impressive collegiate season, serving as Arkansas’s offensive engine. Rucker explained why he’s especially impressed with Acuff’s game.

“I know the numbers didn’t look as good, but seeing Darius in person, the frame is fantastic,” Rucker said. “I mean, he’s got a fantastic upper body when it comes to the definition and power, and then the length is really remarkable.”

The others mentioned earlier have also turned heads at the 2026 NBA Draft Combine, making it difficult to differentiate who should be taken ahead of them. At the seventh pick, that could work in Sacramento’s favor.

“In person, we kept waiting for one of these guards to kind of separate themselves, not a negative way, but just kind of like they didn’t look as good, maybe it’s easier now,” Rucker continued. “I think all of us are talking like, ‘Hey, this got harder.’ They all looked good in a different area or different aspects.”

While most mock drafts, which should not be treated as gospel, have Wagler and Acuff fifth and sixth, those projections often change a handful of times before the day of the draft. Either way, Sacramento should be encouraged by the crop of talent that will be available to them come June 23rd.
