Andrej Stojakovic returning to Illinois, withdrawing from NBA Draft

Local product Andrej Stojakovic will return to Illinois for his senior season in 2026-27, per an announcement on his personal Instagram.

Stojakovic, a Sacramento native and graduate of Jesuit High School in Carmichael, was projected as a second-round pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, but will head back to college to boost his stock for 2027.

The son of former Sacramento Kings great Peja Stojakovic, Andrej Stojakovic had an impressive 2025-26 season with the Fighting Illini.

Following freshman and sophomore seasons at Stanford and Cal, respectively, Stojakovic transferred to Illinois, where he played a crucial role for a team that fell to the eventual NCAA champion runner-up UConn Huskies in the Final Four.

Over 34 games (21 starts), Stojakovic averaged 13.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game on 50 percent shooting from the field, 24 percent from three-point range, and 80 percent from the foul line over 26.3 minutes per contest.

During the NCAA Tournament, Andrej Stojakovic averaged 13.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game on 55/28/68 shooting splits.

Stojakovic was projected to land in the late 30s to high 40s in the 2026 NBA Draft, per Tankathon.
