DAVIS, Calif. – UC Davis football junior kicker Hunter Ridley has been nearly automatic for the Aggies this season, and his performance over the previous eight games has earned him recognition for excellence through the end of October by the Fred Mitchell Award.

Ridley has been on fire since the Aggies home opener against Texas A&M-Commerce, going 3-for-3 in that game, and since then he has been a perfect 12-for-12. On the season he is 12-for-13, and his current streak gives him the second longest consecutive made kicks stretch in the nation.

Against Utah Tech, Ridley tied a school record for kicks made in a single game, going 4-for-4 to help the Aggies take down Utah Tech in their final non-conference game of the season. And at Eastern Washington, during the Aggies’ first win all time against the Eagles, Ridley made two key second-half field goals, nailing a career-long 46-yard kick in the process.

Of the 41-place kickers recognized by the Fred Mitchell Award, Ridley was one of three Big Sky kickers, joining Idaho State’s Gabe Panikowski and Sacramento State’s Zach Schreiner.

The annual Fred Mitchell Outstanding Place-Kicker Award (also known as the Fred Mitchell Award) is provided to the nation’s top collegiate place-kicker among more than 750 FCS, Division II, III, NAIA and NJCAA football teams.
