The Kansas City Chiefs face off against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Stiles & Watkins, along with our 49ers insider Amil Fragoso, are live in Sin City covering all the action.

I have waivered on this game for quite a while. My stance all season long has been that the 49ers are the best team in the NFL when everything is right. As this game gets closer, I started to think about what the Chiefs have done in the past and this postseason. Would I really pick against Reid, Kelce, and most importantly Mahomes? They are the defending champs, they have had an impressive playoff run by going through Miami, then Buffalo and Baltimore on the road.

I am so torn on this game. Turnovers will likely dictate the outcome but since that is the most unpredictable I am going to rely on talent. The 49ers have more high-level talent. The Chiefs’ defense is really good, they do have Mahomes and Kelce, but I think from top to bottom San Francisco just has more. They don’t have much more but they do have more.

I think they will do the same thing as their previous two playoff wins this season. The defense will keep them close and the 49ers will comeback and win it in the 4th quarter: San Francisco 27 Kansas City 23.

The San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs will be the eighth Super Bowl match-up we’ve seen more than once, including of course 49ers-Bengals in 1982 and 1989. I know some 49er fans who still haven’t recovered from “Jet Chip Wasp” four years ago.

For all the focus on the bevy of amazing playmakers who’ll be taking this year’s Super Bowl stage, the game comes down to the 49ers’ defensive front. If they can slow down the run — which admittedly has been a tall order — and then get pressure on Patrick Catsup, the 49ers win, 31-20. Yup, the same score from 2020, but this time San Francisco comes out on top.

This time, the San Francisco 49ers get it done and defeat Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs 28-21.
