The Oakland Athletics are adding another arm to their pitching rotation, lefty Scott Alexander.
A San Francisco Giant for the past two seasons, the A’s announced they’ve signed the 34-year-old pitcher to a one-year deal. The terms of the deal were not announced.
To make room on the roster, the Athletics placed left-handed pitcher Ken Waldichuk on the 60-day injured list with a strained left elbow.
Alexander went 7-3 with a save, a 4.66 ERA and .693 opponents OPS in 55 appearances, including eight starts, with the Giants in 2023. The Santa Rosa native made his MLB debut with the Kansas City Royals in 2015. After nine years in Kansas City, he also spent time with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
In his career, he’s 19-12 with a 3.29 ERA.

Scott Alexander isn’t the only former Giants player the A’s have added this offseason. Earlier this year, the Oakland A’s announced they’ve acquired Ross Stripling and cash considerations from the San Francisco Giants for minor league outfielder Jonah Cox. The Athletics also announced they’ve signed former Giants pitcher Alex Wood to a one-year deal.
