The 2024 Oakland Athletics are turning heads.

A laughingstock of the league one season ago, this year’s group of Athletics look like a different team as Oakland (17-18) has won eight of its past ten games entering play on Monday.

If the A’s keep winning, will it bring fans back to the Coliseum?

Oakland fans have largely boycotted games due to their disdain for team owner John Fisher, who is in the process of relocating the club to Las Vegas, Nevada, with a planned pit-stop in Sacramento beginning in 2025.

Could fans place the boycott on hold and attend games if the Athletics keep winning? Carmichael Dave and Jason Ross contemplated the scenarios below:

Topics Discussed

  • The Oakland Athletics are winning… games…?
  • Does this change anything for A’s fans?
  • Dave says that July 30th’s MLB trade deadline will loom large for this group
  • If the A’s continue to win, will fans start showing up to the Coliseum, or will the protests continue?
  • Dave and Jason think there will be an attendance increase if Oakland continues to win
  • How will winning impact the relocation process?
  • “Weirdly enough, the A’s are in a better spot than the Sacramento Kings were in the early 2010s” – Dave
  • If Oakland is in the playoff race late in the season, it will be the biggest story in baseball
  • There are limited tickets remaining for the final game in Oakland
