One year ago today, Oakland poured 16 runs on Baltimore in a blowout at the Coliseum

As the MLB and MLBPA attempt to figure out a way to start the 2020 season, baseball fans are going through an extended period of uncertainty.

While this may be a rough time for Oakland Athletics fans, we can look back on some good times while we wait for baseball to make its long awaited return.

June 18, 2019: A’s 16, Orioles 2

On this date last year, the Oakland Athletics scored 10 runs in the sixth inning to turn a close game into a blowout, eventually defeating the Baltimore Orioles by a final of 16-2 at the Coliseum.

Heading into the sixth inning, the A’s were clinging to a 4-2 lead against Baltimore starter Gabriel Ynoa.

The Oakland offense would come alive in a big way, hitting three home runs and scoring 10 runs in the inning to take a commanding 14-2 lead. Khris Davis, Stephen Piscotty and Robbie Grossman all homered in the inning, while Marcus Semien drove a run in via an RBI triple.

Chad Pinder’s two-run home run would give the Athletics a 16-2 lead, the eventual final for Oakland’s 39th win of the season.

A’s catcher Beau Taylor hit his first home run of his career, a solo-shot in the third inning off of Ynoa. Outfielder Ramon Laureano went four-for-five with three RBI in the blowout win.

Starting pitcher Brett Anderson pitched seven innings to pick up the win while only allowing one earned run.
