Tigers starter Jordan Zimmermann dealt five shutout innings before handing the ball to the Detroit bullpen.

Oakland would breakthrough in the eighth inning, tying the game at 4-4 after an RBI single from Jonathan Lucroy and an RBI double by Franklin Barreto.

Jed Lowrie would come to the plate in the ninth, drilling. a 3-2 pitch from Tigers reliever Shane Greene just inside the right-field foul pole to give the A’s a 5-4 lead.

It was Lowrie’s 12th home run of the season and 51st RBI, solidifying himself as a representative for the 2018 MLB All-Star Game.

All-Star closer Blake Treinen would come on to shutdown the Tigers offense in the bottom of the ninth to pick up his 18th save of the season and give the A’s a 5-4 win.

Lucroy and Stephen Piscotty each picked up three hits in the win, while Franklin Barreto and Dustin Fowler both racked up two hits.
