In the game of baseball, there are several ways to “walk off,” but the San Francisco Giants sealed Tuesday’s win in rare game-sealing fashion.
With the Giants holding a slim 4-3 lead over the National League West rival Arizona Diamondbacks, D-Backs infielder Geraldo Perdomo led off the top of the ninth with a lead-off single.
After consecutive outs by Arizona, San Francisco was one out away from picking up a much-needed win. As Sean Manaea made his 1-1 pitch to D-Backs first baseman Christian Walker, Giants catcher Patrick Bailey had a trick up his sleeve that he was ready to share with Perdomo:

Bailey, who has been a strong defender during his short time in the Majors, delivered a seed of a throw to Wade as Perdomo got back a step slow, allowing the tag to beat his hand to first base.
Perdomo was ruled out, and San Francisco “walked off” in one of the wildest fashions possible.
“I think Perdomo, it looked like he was getting off [first base], it looked like he was trying to steal,” Bailey said about the play following the win. “It’s just obviously a really aggressive baserunner and a really aggressive base-running team. LaMonte, the pitch before, we both kind of made eye contact, like, ‘Yeah, this is a good time to pick off.’ And it worked out well.
“It’s definitely cool to finish a game like that.”
It was the Patrick Bailey and LaMonte Wade Jr. show during the final innings, as Wade handed the Giants a 4-3 lead with some “Late Night LaMonte” heroics during the bottom of the seventh by drilling a ball into Levi’s Landing.

Bailey and Wade led San Francisco (59-49) to a bounce-back win following Monday’s heartbreaking loss against the Diamondbacks, as the Giants now sit in sole possession of the top National League Wild Card spot.
With two months remaining in the regular season, the race for the postseason is on, meaning that San Francisco will take wins in any way they can get them–thrilling walk-off back-picks included.
