With the inaugural In-Season Tournament elimination week set to take place from December 3rd to 9th, the Sacramento Kings’ upcoming schedule is in flux, depending on the outcome of various matchups within the bracket.
Saturday’s matchup with the Denver Nuggets is a typical regular season showdown before the Kings start their quest for the NBA Cup against the New Orleans Pelicans in the single elimination bracket stage quarterfinals. That game is scheduled for Monday, Dec 4th, at Golden 1 Center with a 7:00 P.M. PST tipoff.
The winner would then advance to play the victor of the other Western Conference matchup between the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers (which will hopefully feature a rare Kevin Durant and LeBron James head-to-head).
The Western finals will be played at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Tuesday, Dec. 7th at 6 P.M. PST, following the Eastern Conference finals that tipoffs at 2 P.M. PST.
If Sacramento were to advance to the In-Season Tournament finals, their final game would take place on Saturday. Dec. 9th, at 5:30 P.M. PST at the same location in Las Vegas. The qualified teams competing in the East include the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, and Indiana Pacers.
While it may be a long shot, a finals showdown against the Pacers and Kings would feature an intriguing storyline, considering the team’s trade history involving All-Stars Tyrese Haliburton and Domantas Sabonis. Oh yeah, and Buddy Hield, too.
However, if the Kings were to lose to the Pelicans on Monday, their following matchup is a bit more nuanced. The potential outcomes, which would count towards their 82-game regular season, are as follows.
- If Phoenix beat Los Angeles: Sacramento Kings @ Los Angeles Lakers — Friday, December 8th @ 7:30 P.M. PST
- If Los Angeles beats Phoenix: Sacramento Kings @ Phoenix Suns — Friday, December 8th @ 7:00 P.M. PST
That’s all that has been announced up to this point. According to the NBA, ‘additional scheduling information will be provided as soon as possible.’
If the Kings can rally off consecutive wins, it keeps their schedule fairly straightforward within the In-Season Tournament bracket. However, single-elimination basketball is highly unpredictable, given the nature of the sport.
One thing is for sure: the Sacramento Kings are hoping to play (and win) two games in Las Vegas during the upcoming week.
When is the next Sacramento Kings Game?
Sacramento will take two days off before facing two-time MVP center Nikola Jokic and the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets at Golden 1 Center on Saturday night.
The Nuggets will be playing the second game of a back-to-back after facing the Phoenix Suns on Friday night.
